ZEBRA ZD421-HC: Printing Solution for Enhanced Patient Safety and Data Security
The white ZD421-HC label printer for healthcare applications excels in terms of flexibility and user-friendliness. It is designed for intuitive use, providing 5 status LED icons and 3 keys as user interface. Following the color-coded media path, media loading is perfectly easy. There is also a version of the ZD421-HC available that enables the use of ribbon cartridges. Each cartridge contains a smart chip to inform the user timely, when a ribbon change is needed. There is no simpler way to load new ribbons. Zebra’s OpenACCESS clamshell design of the ZD421-HC printer ensures convenient access for media or ribbon change as well as maintenance.
Depending on the application, the Zebra ZD421-HC printer is available as direct thermal or thermal transfer version. The thermal transfer printer solution is optimal for applications, where long-term readability is required or where printouts might get in contact with liquids. Direct thermal printers are ideal for applications where labels or receipts for short-term use need to be printed. The Zebra ZD421-HC prints barcodes, fonts and graphics.
The 4-inch label printer ZD421-HC by Zebra comes with USB and USB Host connectivity as standard and flexible options can be added according to requirements. As options, Ethernet or serial connectors are available as well as WLAN + Bluetooth dual wireless connectivity. The ZD421-HC is compatible with Windows, Android and iOS operating systems and uses EPL and ZPL printer languages. By means of the “Virtual Devices” tool, it can emulate multiple printer languages. Together with Zebra’s Keyboard Display Unit (ZKDU), it is possible to use the ZD421-HC as standalone device. If it is equipped with the high-capacity battery unit, the desktop printer becomes a portable device which can be applied wherever needed.
Zebra’s Print DNA software package provides a number of useful tools for easy setup and management of Zebra devices. One or several printers can be remotely configured and managed. Especially in medical environments, patient and other data need to be particularly protected. The PrintSecure software tool enables secure connections, protects against cyberattacks, prevents unauthorized access and offers other functions that enhance security. The Print DNA software suite also enables Managed Print Services (MPS).
The robust double-walled housing of the Zebra ZD421-HC label printer is UV resistant and can be regularly wiped with disinfectants to ensure maximum hygiene standards. The ZD421-HC includes a power supply which is suitable for healthcare environments (IEC 60601-1).
