Zebra WS50 Series: All-in-One Android Wearable Computer

Freedom of movement: Depending on preference and the area of application, the mobile computers of the WS50 series from Zebra can be worn either on two fingers, on the back of the hand or on the wrist. The small and lightweight wearables enable hands-free workflows. Their 2-inch color touch display can be operated with fingers and even with gloves. The WS50 PDTs are suitable for industrial applications as well as use in warehousing, retail or in the hospitality sector.

Small or large volume data collection: For applications that require only occasional data collection, the integrated 13-megapixel camera can be used. In many industries, however, barcode and RFID data capture is part of everyday work. Three models of the WS50 series (back-of-hand model, two-finger model, RFID model) are therefore equipped with the Zebra SE4770 standard-range scan engine. This powerful imager reads bar and QR codes in any condition. Even poor-quality codes can be captured quickly and reliably. A scan is triggered with the thumb. The manual trigger can be used on the right and left hand. A proximity sensor that enables continuous scanning is available as option. The UHF RFID model has a range of up to 1.5 m. Two antennas, an upward-facing internal and a downward-facing external antenna, ensure reliable and accurate data capture.

Intelligent task management: The Workcloud task management solution provides tools to sort, assign and prioritize tasks. You keep track of the progress and completion of projects and tasks in real time.

Processor and battery: The portable minicomputers of the Zebra WS50 series are equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2 GHz quad-core processor. The computer offers 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash storage. They run the Android 11 AOSP operating system. The Android OS is well familiar to most users. The mobile computers come with a powerful battery. The standard wrist model is equipped with an 800 mAh battery, the models with an integrated scanner have a 1,300 mAh battery, and the RFID model has a 2,400 mAh battery. Thanks to the hot-swap function, the battery can be changed while the computer is running.

Data and voice communication: The WS50 series’ mobile computers are equipped with loudspeaker and microphone. They enable the integration of PTT solutions for voice communication and provide Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. The “Mobility DNA” software suite offers tools to improve application performance, for example to optimize Wi-Fi network, data collection and security.

WS50 powered by Workcloud for retail applications: This model is specially designed for retail requirements. It can be worn in smartwatch style on a wristband, or attached to a vest, an apron or a belt. The WS50 Workcloud edition has a focus on communication and first-class customer service. Integration into the inventory system, such as SAP or Oracle, information on articles can be accessed anytime and anywhere by simply scanning the barcode. Or you can use the intelligent voice AI assistant to quickly find out about the current stock of items and available sizes, colors or alternative products. Push-to-talk enables easy voice communication with colleagues and supervisors for better collaboration and fast clarification of questions. You can connect a headset, either with Bluetooth or cable. The voice AI assistant enables voice navigation and hands-free operation. You can for example say, ‘Call Warehouse’ or ‘What is my next task?’. Industrial-grade devices ensure a long service life: The rugged wearable computers of the WS50 series have a high drop resistance. Depending on the model, they can withstand falls from a height of between 1.2 m and 1.8 m. They are protected against the ingress of dust and water according to protection class IP65.
