ZEBRA HC20/HC50: Two Advanced Handheld Computers for the Healthcare Sector

Convenient mobile computing for medical staff: The HC20 and HC50 handheld terminals from Zebra are equipped with a high-resolution display. Graphics, tables, and other content can be conveniently displayed and read on the large 6-inch touchscreen, which also offers a pleasant user interface. It is possible to operate the terminals with medical gloves. To ensure highest hygiene standards, the handhelds can be cleaned with clinical disinfectants. The devices are sealed against the ingress of dust and water in accordance with protection classes IP68 and IP65.

Emergency button: The red emergency button on the back of the HC20 and HC50 mobile computers is slightly recessed to prevent unintentional activation. In addition, it is possible to set an activation sequence for the button. In the case of an emergency, you can reach a specific phone number or open a defined application at the touch of a button.

Barcode capture in healthcare: Barcodes offer a high level of security in the healthcare sector. For example, they can be used to identify patients or to label samples. Bar and QR codes also play a role in the procurement and dispense of medication and consumables in hospitals and other medical facilities. For this reason, the HC20 and HC50 mobile computers are equipped with a high-performance scan engine (SE4720). This allows 1D and 2D barcodes to be captured in any condition, including UDI codes that are used in the healthcare sector. The terminals have two scan buttons.

Processor and operating system: A Qualcomm 5430 CPU ensures smooth operation of the two handheld devices. The HC20 is equipped with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB flash, the HC50 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB flash. By using a MicroSD card, storage capacity can be expanded by up to 2 TB. The devices are Android-based and can be upgraded to version 16. The HC50 includes extensive Mobility DNA software tools, which require an enterprise license for the HC20.

Mobile devices as a workstation: By means of a docking station and the Zebra Workstation Connect software solution, the devices can be connected to a screen, keyboard, mouse, and printer and used as a workstation without requiring an additional desktop computer. This creates maximum flexibility for medical professionals.

Wireless connectivity: The HC50 comes with Wi-Fi 6E connectivity which provides an additional frequency band (6 GHz) and therefore enables higher data transmission speeds. Even at locations with a high device density, you can fully utilize the performance of the HC50. Wi-Fi 6E also offers additional security. The HC20 data terminal is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 for fast and stable internet connections as well as excellent network coverage. In addition, both devices feature Bluetooth 5.2. Bluetooth also enables the HC20 and HC50 to be easily located even when they are switched off or the battery is empty.

Camera and VoIP options: The healthcare mobile computers HC20 and HC50 are equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera. The HC50 additionally provides a 5-megapixel front camera. Video and audio quality meet the highest standards. The devices are equipped with three microphones, two loudspeakers and noise suppression. With Zebra’s Workcloud Communication, VoIP options can be integrated as required. Choose between various license types from basic features to an all-in-one package including text messages and full PBX capabilities.

Battery: The replaceable PowerPrecision+ battery enables real-time monitoring. This ensures that batteries can be changed in time and the mobile computers always remain fully operational. The HC50 is hot swap enabled to change the battery while the device is running. The mobile computers can be charged with any standard USB-C cable.
