NORDIC ID SAMPO SERIES: Flexible RFID Reader Series for Retail and Logistics

RFID technology has substantially improved efficiency and accuracy and has simplified operations in many sectors. The Nordic ID Sampo series fixed UHF RFID readers were particularly developed for retail and logistics. The series comprises 4 slim RFID readers: Sampo S2, Sampo S2 One, Sampo S1 and Sampo S1 One. The devices come with flexible features. The Sampo S0 is an antenna for enhanced performance and extended reading coverage of the Sampo RFID readers. All readers are equipped with three external antenna ports, USB ports and LED indicators. As they come with ready-to-use APIs, they can be easily integrated. The Sampo series by Nordic ID is made for indoor use and complies with protection class IP20. Its operating temperature range is from -20 °C to +55 °C.

Sampo S2 One:

The Sampo S2 One is ideal for long range RFID reading tasks. Its new Nordic ID NUR2-1W RFID module ensures highest reading performance and reading rates of up to 1000 tags per second. It is possible to choose between normal mode for 33 dBm (2 W) ERP/3.3 EIRP radiated power and low-gain mode for 4 dBm (2.5 mW) ERP/4 mW EIRP radiated power. The Sampo S2 One covers a reading distance of up to 10 m. To ensure optimal reading accuracy, the antenna ports are highly isolated to prevent cross-reading. The Sampo S2 One supports EU (ETSI) and US (FCC) frequencies.

Equipped with a 1.2 GHz 64-bit quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB Flash, the Sampo S2 One is particularly versatile. With the Debian-based embedded Linux operating system it is possible to run customized business software and applications. The Sampo S2 One RFID reader is compatible with the Nordic ID RADEA IoT platform, an all-in-one solution for optimized item management and transparency of business operations.

Sampo S2:

The Sampo S2 RFID reader by Nordic ID also comes with a 1.2 GHz 64-bit quad-core Cortex-A53 processor and provides 1 GB RAM and 4 GB Flash. It is equipped with the Debian-based embedded Linux operating system and supports the Nordic ID RADEA platform. The Sampo S2 is suitable for RFID gate solutions and other logistics applications. It supports the EU and US radio spectrum (ETSI and FCC frequencies).

The Sampo S2 fixed RFID reader reaches reading speeds of up to 200 tags per second. It can be operated in normal mode, with a radiated power of 30 dBm (1 W) ERP/1.6 W EIRP, and in low-gain mode, with a radiated power of 1 dBm (1.3 mW) ERP/2.0 mW EIRP. Reading distances from 1.5 m to 5 m can be covered.

Sampo S1 One:

With the Sampo S1 One, Nordic ID offers a high-performance UHF RFID reader. It is available with a standard antenna whose radiated power reaches +33 dBm (2 W) ERP for reading distances of up to 7 m. A near-field option is also available, with +30 dBm (1 W) ERP radiated power. The Sampo S1 One collects RFID data at a reading speed of up to 200 tags per second in DRM mode.

Sampo S1:

For extremely flexible application, the Sampo S1 is available in different variations:
-with standard antenna (radiated power: +30 dBm (1 W) ERP) for distances of up to 5 m
-with low-gain antenna (radiated power: +20 dBm (100 mW) ERP) for up to 1.5 m
-with near-field optimized antenna (radiated power +27 dBm (500 mW) ERP), for near-field applications from 0 to 20 cm and far-field applications up to 2 m

The Sampo S1 by Nordic ID reads up to 200 tags per second in DRM mode.
