Locus Robotics Origin Autonomous Mobile Roboter

  • intelligent: automatic and scalable workflow management, automated warehouse software LocusOne
  • fast: slim design, safe navigation, optimal route calculation
  • intuitive: integrated tablet, multi-language display, integrated barcode scanner
  • ergonomic: height-adjustable platform, patented tote array
  • flexible: easily scalable Robot-as-a-Service system

Locus Robotics offers a new approach to dynamic warehouse workflows—the Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) program with the autonomous mobile robot (AMR) Origin. The innovative multi-bot method was developed by experts from the two fields of logistics and robot technology. Conventional picking systems are often inflexible, expensive, and cumbersome. In contrast, the multi-bot approach with the AMR Origin can be implemented in a very short time. Locus Robotics not only provides the robots for the automation workflows but also the software and a flexible subscription-based RaaS program. The multi-bot approach results in an immediate increase in productivity with low investment costs and is scalable as required thanks to the RaaS subscription system. This enables a rapid ROI within just a few months.

LOCUS ROBOTICS ORIGIN: Multi-Bot Warehouse Workflows

A new level of order picking: The autonomous mobile robots Origin from Locus Robotics ensure fast and practically error-free order processing while easing the strain on personnel. The agile robots cover the routes and transport the goods, while the staff scan the ordered goods and place them in the collection bins on the robots. What is new about this approach is that the robots are shared resources and are used by the entire picking team. The AMRs are autonomous and approach the workers who are closest to the target shelf for the required goods. The multi-bot solution is suitable for all sorts of picking processes: single-order picking, batch picking, multi-order picking, case picking as well as mixed forms. Without additional personnel, picking as well as put-away tasks can be handled at the same time.

Intelligent workflows with LocusOne: The Origin robots are based on the LocusOne platform, a software solution for automated warehouse systems. It provides a straightforward and easy-to-use interface for your staff. LocusOne enables optimized workflow management by:

-continually analyzing incoming orders

-calculating the ideal route, in consideration of the positions of order pickers in the warehouse

-avoiding bottlenecks and congestion

-giving insight into process productivity

Robots as a Service (RaaS): With the Robots-as-a-Service program, you can use the latest automation technology in your warehouse at low operational costs. RaaS allows you to adapt quickly and flexibly to the order situation. For example, to process all orders on time, the number of bots can be increased during peaks.

Improved job quality: The Origin AMRs do the legwork and carry the loads. Pickers scan the ordered goods and put them in the containers on the bots. The platform for the picking containers can be adjusted in height and the containers be chosen according to picking process. Order pickers do not need to carry any additional devices such as mobile computers or barcode scanners. The smart helpers from Locus Robotics are already equipped with a tablet and a barcode reader. There is also a connectivity port to connect peripheral devices, for example a label printer.

Technology made for people: The integrated tablet serves as user interface. It offers a multi-language touch display which is clear and straightforward for intuitive use. The multi-bot picking method is easy to learn for everyone and does not require long training. Workers also easily switch between picking and put-away tasks. As the Origin robots are shared by the entire team, no individual login is required.

Safety and warehouse requirements: Thanks to LiDAR sensors, the Origin robots move swiftly and safely between the shelves. The multi-bot method is suitable for warehouses with a capacity of 500 SKUs and more, a size of at least 2,500 m² and an aisle width of not less than 1.1 m. The multi-bot order picking process is also suitable for multi-level mezzanine warehouses. The AMR Origin has a payload capacity of 36 kg. The dimensions of the robot are 56 × 147 × 51 cm (W × H × D). The battery has an average runtime of 8 hours, the charging time is about 50 minutes. A selection of patented collection containers is available for various picking solutions.
