HONEYWELL THOR VM3A: Smart and Rugged In-vehicle Computer Terminal
For more productivity in busy industrial and logistics environments, the vehicle-mounted terminal Thor VM3A by Honeywell provides just the right features. Its bright 12.1-inch display is available either as resistive touch screen or as capacitive multi-touch screen. An outdoor version of the VM3A terminal offers 900 Nits brightness to ensure clear readability even in bright sunlight. By means of Honeywell’s Mobility Edge platform, which provides easy-to-use tools for a more efficient workflow, the mobile computer Thor VM3A can be operated intuitively. Additionally, seven programmable function keys enable convenient and fast access to frequently used applications. In order to keep maintenance costs low, the front panel can be replaced on site if required.
The vehicle computer Thor VM3A by Honeywell is equipped with a high-performance 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core CPU and provides 4 GB RAM and 32 GB Flash memory. For extended memory capacity, a MicroSD card with up to 512 GB can be inserted. The VM3A runs Android version 9 which is upgradeable to two future versions ensuring a long-term profitability of the mobile computers.
Honeywell’s Mobility Edge is a unified hardware and software platform enabling optimized IT support for all Mobility Edge devices across the enterprise. It facilitates configuration, scaling and deployment of Honeywell devices and includes performance and management tools. Regular security updates ensure secure operation and network access.
The Honeywell Thor VM3A vehicle-mounted computer is ideally suited for rough environments. It is sealed against the ingress of dust and water in accordance with protection class IP66. The terminal is resistant against shock and vibration complying with MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-810G. For the use in refrigerated areas, the mobile computer is available with a screen defrosting function as option. It can be used within a temperature range from -30 °C to +50 °C.
As standard, the Honeywell Thor VM3A computer terminal is equipped with 2 x 2 MIMO WLAN and Bluetooth 5.0 class 1.5 and BLE. Integrated ports for the connection of external antennas make sure that network communications are stable and dependable and workers keep connected to the backend systems at all times. The terminal also comes with integrated NFC.
For vehicle mounting, there are two options available: Standard dock with 2 x powered RS-232 COM ports, 1 x USB 2.0 powered host port, 1 x USB 2.0 client port, audio port, DC power input and ignition control input. Smart dock with 2 x powered RS-232 COM ports, 1 x USB 2.0 powered host port type A, 3 additional USB 2.0 powered host ports, 1 x USB 2.0 client port, 1 x Ethernet RJ45 port, 1 x audio port, DC power input and ignition control input. The enhanced smart dock also enables ultra-fast attachment and removal of the mobile computer. The Honeywell Thor VM3A terminal comes with integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to bridge up to 30 minutes. Draining of the vehicle battery is prevented by means of an ignition control function.
